Artist’s Biography

Andrea Sala

Andrea Sala (b. 1976, Como) lives and works in Milan, where he graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.

He imagines new environments and worlds by mixing present and future images, oscillating between reality, fiction and imagination. He pays special attention to the forms of design and architecture, questioning the materials that constitute them and their formal values. Taking inspiration from design objects, Andrea Sala appropriates and transforms existing forms, finding new potential and reshaping them into new aspects and contexts.

His works have gained international attention and have been exhibited in several venues, including the 9th Venice Architecture Biennale (2004); MAMCO Musée d'art moderne et contemporain, Geneva (2003); MACO, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca (2007); Kaleidoscope Space, Milan (2010); La Maison Rouge, Paris (2012); Musée d'art de Joliette (2012); and Fondation Guido Molinari, Montréal (2012). His works are in the collection of MAXXI - Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo, Rome, Banca Albertini Syz, Milan, and private collections. Some of his works were exhibited as part of the last Milan Triennale.
